New operations director set to drive expansion of Thwaites Inns of Character
Sorcha Drakeford has been appointed as operations director of Thwaites Inns of Character, which has ambitious plans to grow its portfolio over the next five years.
Drakeford, 39, had extensive experience in developing new concepts in her previous roles with the Spirit Pub Company, Mitchells & Butlers, Whitbread, Ask Restaurants and Pizza Express.
Launched in April 2011 by Lancashire-based brewer and pub company Daniel Thwaites and sister brand to Shire Hotels, Thwaites Inns of Character currently has six properties with plans to grow to 25 by 2018.
In her new role, Drakeford, is already looking for new sites and new staff to help expand the business.
"I am looking for talented, dynamic people to join the team to help me drive the business forward and we also need some great new sites," she said. "The search is on throughout the UK but we are shortly opening in York and Solihull.
The central premise of Thwaites Inns of Character is traditional inn-keeping with a strong emphasis on exceptional hospitality, good quality bedrooms, locally sourced food and a wide range of cask ales and fine wines. They are particularly aimed at guests who are exploring the locality and want a "cosy" base to stay at.
