New owner for Arun Valley hotel
The Chequers hotel, a family-run property in the heart of the West Sussex Downs, has changed hands.
Originally built in 1548, it occupies high ground east of the A29 on the northern boundary of Pulborough overlooking the Arun Valley.
The hotel, which combines contemporary and traditional features, offers nine en-suite bedrooms, a residents' lounge with an inglenook open fire, a bar leading to a 50-seat restaurant and conservatory, a two-bedroom owners' flat, and a rear garden.
The Winchester office of Christie + Co sold the freehold to Andy Purkiss off a guide price of £850,000 on behalf of Pat and John Parsons.
