New owner for four-star Dumfries guesthouse

The Glasgow office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold off an asking price of £650,000.

The semi-detached property, which is short distance from the town centre, doubled its size in 2006 to 14 en-suite bedrooms (to sleep 30 guests).

The guesthouse has a 20-seat dining room with a bay window, traditional fireplace and cornice. It also offers off-street parking to the front and side.

A private suite to the rear houses large, double-bedroom accommodation for the owners while the basement contains a double bedroom for staff along with an off-suite shower room.

According to Robert Taylor from Colliers Robert Barry, the flexibility of the letting accommodation generated an extremely high level of occupancy and profitability.

The guest house made a trading profit of £108,871 on net sales of £179,236 in the year to 31 March 2007.

The new owners are Graham McIntyre and William Cannon.
