New owner sought for Sussex country house hotel

A three-star hotel in the heart of the West Sussex countryside has been put on the market for the first time in 23 years.

Property agent Savills is seeking offers in the region of £1.8m for the freehold on Southdowns Country hotel

Formerly known as Dumpford House, the building was constructed towards the close of the 19th century and became a guest house before the end of World War II. It has undergone extensive restoration and extension since the current owner bought it in 1983.

The hotel occupies 1.8 hectares of grounds at Trotton, near the cathedral cities of Winchester and Chichester.

Facilities include 22 en-suite bedrooms, a 100-seat restaurant, a conference suite and two function rooms to accommodate 130 delegates, and a two-bedroom flat for the owners.

The property also has planning permission for further ancillary areas and an extra conference room.
