New owners for Newtonmore hotel

Dougie and Joanna Jeffries from North Queensferry are the new owners of the Craigerne House hotel on the edge of the Inverness-shire village of Newtonmore.

The property, which lies within the Cairngorm National Park, is just off the A9 north of Aviemore and commands views over the Spey Valley to Cairngorm and the Monadhliath Mountains.

The village is a popular destination for tourists following outdoor pursuits in the Highlands and the hotel attracts trade from walkers, mountain bikers and golfers (it is next to the village golf club).

The hotel is based around a two-storey, stone Victorian villa with a two-storey extension to the rear and single-storey extensions to the front and side.

Along with 10 bedrooms and a four-room family suite, the hotel provides two lounges, a breakfast room and a 28-seat restaurant. Owners' accommodation comprises two double bedrooms, a lounge and a bathroom.

The Edinburgh office of Christie + Co was seeking offers in excess of £450,000 on behalf of David and Jane Adamson.
