New owners sought for Suffolk hotel

A 17th Century, grade II-listed hotel, in the village of Clare in Suffolk, has been placed on the market through agent Christie + Co.

The two-storey Clare Hotel has a three-diamond rating and comprises four en suite letting bedrooms, a 40-seat lounge bar and 30-seat conservatory restaurant. Two-bedroom owner's accommodation is also available.

Mark Page, from Christie + Co's Ipswich Office, who is handling the sale, commented: "The hotel has been in the present ownership since 1997 but the vendor is now looking to buy a plot in Northern Ireland. The business was formerly known as the Seafarer and over the years, trade has been shared equally between the bar/restaurant and the accommodation."

Christie + Co is seeking offers in excess of £485,000 for the freehold interest.
