New Premier Inns set for Abergavenny and Perth
Planning permission has been secured for a new Premier Inn and Brewers Fayre restaurant in Abergavenny.
The planning committee of Monmouthshire Council have given the go ahead to the operator Whitbread for the 61-bedroom hotel and 180-cover restaurant, which will form one of the first phases of a wider commerical and residential development scheme at Llanfoist.
Richard Pearson, regional acquisitions manager, Whitbread said: "Abergavenny is the gateway to Wales and a great base for exploring the eastern reaches of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the recently designated Blaenavon Industrial Landscape World Heritage Site. We are delighted with this decision and intend to start construction later in the year."
Planning consultants Turley Associates acted on behalf of Whitbread for the Abergavenny site.
Meanwhile, an 83-bedroom Premier Inn hotel is to be developed in Perth, adjacent to the city's concert hall.
The hotel is to be developed with £3m funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial as a joint venture between two property companies, Deanway Development and the JW Muir Group.
John Muir, founder and group chairman of the JW Muir Group, said the new development is "a great addition" to the company's portfolio.
"We believe it will benefit from its great location in one of Scotland's great cities, with strong potential to benefit from tourists as well as retail traffic."
