New resort manager to drive sustainability at Macdonald's Forest Hills hotel
Independent hotel group Macdonald Hotels has appointed Catherine Bone as the new resort manager of Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa in Aberfoyle, Scotland.
She replaces Jody Marshall, who was appointed at the hotel in February 2015 and has now taken up a general manager position for Scotch whisky firm Edrington.
Bone brings 20 years of experience to her new post having worked in a number of top international hotels, resorts and restaurants. She also speaks four languages, which includes English, Dutch, French and German.
She has held general manager positions in a number of global luxury hotels and restaurants, including the five star Marlborough Vintners Hotel on New Zealand's South Island; the award winning luxury Spicers Hidden Vale Retreat in Queensland; and the four star Peppers Craigieburn Resort in Bowral, New South Wales, Australia.
Bone also founded the Verdi Hospitality Consultancy in 2007, which offers profitability analysis, staff training and contract assignments for organisations in the sector. She is currently studying for an MBA in leadership and sustainability.
Bone said: "Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa has a great reputation and it's a real honour to have been appointed as the new resort manager. I've worked in some great hotels and resorts over the years in a number of fantastic locations, but nothing comes close to the beauty and tranquillity of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
"I'm particularly excited about the group's commitment to the environment. As the focus of my MBA is leadership and sustainability, I am looking forward to being able to put theory into practice at Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa and solidifying its already excellent eco-friendly credentials."
Stephen Williams, regional managing director at Macdonald Hotels added: "Catherine is a fantastic addition to the team and we're greatly looking forward to working with her. Her experience in the international hospitality market is exceptional, and given the number of international tourists we welcome to Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa each year, I am confident Catherine has the experience, enthusiasm and drive to ensure each and every one of them has a wonderful experience."
The four star Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa, which offers views across Loch Ard and Ben Lomond, has 55 rooms and 65 self-catering lodges, and an AA rosette award-winning Garden Restaurant.
Macdonald Hotels operates more than 45 hotels across the UK and 10 resorts in the UK, Spain and Portugal.
