New restaurant to launch at 11 Cadogan Gardens

A new restaurant is set to launch on the site of what was Alexis Gauthier's Tartufo at the 11 Cadogan Gardens hotel in London.

Hans' Bar & Grill will be headed up by chef Adam England, who previously worked at Le Pont de la Tour, offering an all-day seasonal menu.

The restaurant on Pavilion Road is part of the 11 Cadogan Gardens hotel whose management was taken over last year by the team behind Chewton Glen in New Milton, Hampshire.

It will also take inspiration from the restaurant's namesake, Sir Hans Sloane, who was credited with bringing cocoa to the UK - with chocolate desserts and signature hot chocolate drinks taking centre stage.

The restaurant, which is set to launch in May, will have 106 seats as well as a 20-seat bar and a private dining room called ‘the Curio' with capacity for a further 16 people.

It has been designed by Goddard Littlefair and promises a bright and airy space featuring white fluted timber walls offset with original yellow-stock brick, a pale oak parquet floor and sky light windows.

Seating will combine dark green banquettes with velvet chairs alongside white marble and black oak topped tables, brass detailing and feature lights.

Restaurant general manager, Simon Smith (previously of Berners Tavern and Hakkasan) will oversee the wine list which will feature over 195 bins with a focus on quirky bottles from around the world.

The cocktail list, designed by Salvatore Damiano using British spirits, will include a twist on a gin sour and the British mule.

England said: "I'm passionate about ingredients and fresh produce so having such great artisanal and family-run shops on our doorstep is a huge bonus for me."

Smith added: "We want Hans' Bar & Grill to be a real neighbourhood spot - a place people feel just as comfortable popping in for breakfast, a drink and a salad for lunch, or for a special occasion with friends."

Hugh Seaborn, chief executive of Cadogan, the owner of 11 Cadogan Gardens, added: "The local community is always at the heart of our business decisions. Following a consultation with residents on what they'd like to see on Pavilion Road, we have sought out exciting artisan traders to become part of the neighbourhood here. Hans Bar & Grill is the latest welcome addition to the Road and we hope will become a firm favourite for locals and visitors alike. A further three small shops will follow later this year, further adding to the Road's distinctive character."

Meanwhile, the opening of the Belmond Cadogan, also owned by Cadogan, is set to open later this year after a four-year, £28m renovation.

The Queen Anne-style property, which was built in 1887, has been reconfigured to provide larger-sized suites in response to demand from guests, while the interiors have been designed by GA Design International.

The hotel will also feature a new "gourmet dining experience", with a direct entrance on to Sloane Street and overlooking Cadogan Place Gardens.
