Nick Edgar recruited as head chef of the Samling
The Samling hotel in the Lake District has appointed Nick Edgar to run its Michelin-starred restaurant.
He was previously head chef at the two-Michelin-starred Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons - a position he has held since 2013, after having joined the hotel and restaurant in 2000.
Speaking about his new appointment, he said: "I am so excited about my new position as head chef at the Samling hotel. I can't wait to start the next chapter of my career at this wonderful hotel. The ambition the Samling has is what attracted me to the position; their aim to be on the highest level of gastronomic experiences and become a food destination for the whole of the UK would excite any young ambitious chef."
General manager of the Samling, Alasdair Elwick, said: "I am delighted to have recruited one of the UK's best chefs. Nick brings a wealth of experience and ability to the role. When you combine this appointment with the talent of the current team, exciting times lie ahead for the hotel."
Gary Jones, executive chef at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons was also pleased with the appointment: "We are delighted by his new appointment at the Samling, which will give him the opportunity to showcase his impressive skill set. We are proud to have played a part in his evolution as a leading young talented chef in the UK."
Chef-patron of Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons Raymond Blanc said: "Wishing him every success for his future development in the natural and abundant surroundings of the Lakes, at the Samling. Bravo Nick."
