North Yorkshire B&B carries off friendliest title in AA awards
A North Yorkshire bed and breakfast operated by a woman who has lived at the property all her life has been named the friendliest in the UK by the AA.
Rains Farm in Allerston, run by Lorraine Allanson (pictured), was selected from 25 finalists to take the new title of AA Friendliest Bed and Breakfast of the Year in the annual AA Bed and Breakfast Awards.
Allanson, who runs the business with help from her mother, provides a warm Yorkshire welcome and locally sourced breakfasts, which keep guests returning year after year.
Speaking after being presented with her award at a ceremony held at the Royal Horseguards hotel in London, Allanson said that winning had made all the hard work she put into the business worthwhile.
"I always believe that the best memories for guests are the ones imprinted by their host, and then the accommodation," she said. "Many guests give me a friendly cuddle as they leave and that is when I know I have succeeded in my quest and they have truly enjoyed their stay."
Winners of the other five categories in the AA Bed and Breakfast Awards include:
AA Funkiest Bed and Breakfast of the Year: Dragonfly, Chester
AA Guest Accommodation of the Year for England: East House, Broadway
AA Guest Accommodation of the Year for Wales: Crug-Glas Country House, Solva, Pembrokeshire
AA Guest Accommodation of the Year for Scotland: Arden Country House, Linlithgow
AA Guest Accommodation of the Year for London: Marble Arch by Montcalm
