Old Course hotel calls news of sale ‘inaccurate'

Newspaper reports that Scotland's Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa in St Andrews, Fife, has been sold to a consortium for an estimated £35m have been branded "inaccurate".

The 22-bedroom Fife hotel - which is an AA Top 200 hotel - is owned by the Kosaido Corporation, which runs a string of golf courses and resorts around the world. The new owners were reported to be investment firm Swilken Holdings and US conglomerate Kohler Company.

Kohler - which has interests in energy, bathroom and kitchen design, and interiors - owns Destination Kohler in Wisconsin, which includes the American Club resort hotel and the Whistling Straits and Blackwood Run golf venues.

Kohler, Kosaido and the hotel management said all would be explained at a press conference late on Tuesday, after Caterer had gone to press.
