Opening of first new-look Ibis in Shepherd's Bush
The first hotel under the new Ibis branding is to open within the revamped West 12 shopping centre at Shepherd's Bush, London.
Sited within a former office block, the 128-bedroom Ibis hotel is being developed by Land Securities, the UK's largest commercial property company, alongside 38 retail and seven leisure units, a 12-screen Vue Cinema and Fitness First gym.
Accor, the operator of the hotel, recently announced a realignment of its economy brands, with Ibis remaining as Ibis, All Seasons becoming Ibis Styles and Etap Hotels becoming Ibis Budget.
Newly appointed managing director for Accor UK & Ireland Thomas Dubaere said the company was pleased to be working with Land Securities to create a new Ibis. "Ibis is the keystone of our economy portfolio and stands for modernity and innovation, which is evident throughout this whole development. 2012 will be a busy and exciting year for Accor with the roll-out of our new Ibis brand and a strong development pipeline, and this hotel plays an integral part of both.
Accor currently has a portfolio of 185 hotels with 24,000 bedrooms in the UK.
