A look at the latest restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars to open their doors


The latest venture from the Belfast-based Beannchor Group, which is behind the Merchant hotel, Little Wing Pizzeria, National Grand Café and the Dirty Onion, is the £7m Bullitt Belfast, a new social hub for the city.

The hotel features three bars (including Baltic, a ski-themed bar), a courtyard garden, the Taylor & Clay restaurant, an espresso bar and a private events space. The hotel's concept involves ditching "over-the-top extras" to focus on service with no hidden costs. The Taylor & Clay restaurant menu is based around locally sourced produce, with each ingredient chosen from local farms and suppliers by the chefs, along with organic produce from the restaurant's own kitchen garden. At the heart of the Taylor & Clay kitchen is its bespoke Asador grill, which can char and smoke meat and seafood.

All rooms offer king-size beds, rain showers, Wi-Fi, smart TVs and a daily breakfast bag with orange juice, a granola pot and a piece of fruit. The Good Room, Bullitt's private event space, can hold up to 50 people theatre-style.

Rick Stein Marlborough

The latest Rick Stein restaurant has opened in Marlborough, Wiltshire. The menu has a focus on seafood, and the interior of the Grade II-listed Lloran House remains sympathetic to its Georgian architecture, while delivering a contemporary feel throughout.

Counter Kitchen

The recently opened Counter Kitchen in Clerkenwell, London, serves a menu of salads, soups and cold-pressed juices along with biodynamic wine. The relaxed space includes a spacious terrace and an in-house barista.

Timmy Green

Aussie coffee and brunch independent Daisy Green has opened Timmy Green in London Victoria's Nova development. Named after founder Prue Freeman's late brother, the menu will focus on prime grass-fed meats and Aussie brunches along with local craft beers and an almost all-Australian natural wine list.

Paulo de Tarso and Nicolas Jaouën have opened Italian restaurant Margot in London's Covent Garden. The menu serves authentic, carefully sourced Italian food along with an extensive international wine list.

The Victoria Inn

The Victoria Inn in Peckham, south London, has reopened after a refurbishment. The historic 19th century pub with rooms, which first opened in 1878, now combines original period details, such as a horseshoe-shaped bar with Scandinavian-inspired interiors.

Authentic Beijing street food restaurant Mamalan has opened in Shoreditch, east London. The restaurant is inspired by dishes the founder's grandfather served at his market stall in Beijing: warming and hearty Northern Chinese street food.
