The owners of the Michelin-starred Star Inn in Harome, North Yorkshire have invested £1.3m in the Pheasant Hotel, which is just 200 yards away from the pub restaurant, Caterersearch can reveal.

Andrew and Jacquie Pern, former Catey pub operator of the year winners, have taken on the 15-room hotel following the retirement of the Binks family, who have run the property since 1984.

They plan to invest a further £500,000 refurbishing the hotel, which is built around a former blacksmiths and overlooks the village duck pond.

Peter Neville, former head chef of the Star Inn, who has been working at the two Michelin-starred Hibiscus in London's Mayfair, will return as a working partner at The Pheasant.

He will be in charge of the day-to-day running of the business with Paul Wanless from The Star Inn in the role of general manager.

The menu aims to showcase "simple, fresh flavours", sourced locally from within Ryedale where possible, according to the Perns.
