Patrick Dempsey to be honoured by 2015 British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame
Patrick Dempsey, who last week stepped down from his position as managing director of Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants following 10 successful years at the helm of the business, is to be recognised at the 2015 British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame awards dinner, organised by The Caterer.
Run in partnership with The Caterer's sister brand, Travel Weekly Group, the Hall of Fame honours outstanding business achievement in the travel, hospitality, leisure and tourism sectors. The broad scope of the Hall of Fame celebrates the close links and common goals that exist between travel, hospitality leisure and tourism. The event takes place at London's Dorchester hotel on 13 April.
Dempsey, who will be presented with the 2015 Business Achievement of the Year Award, told The Caterer: "I am very grateful to be the recipient of this year's Business Achievement of the Year Award. It is particularly gratifying to receive this award as I step down from my position of managing director of Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants after 10 years.
"It has been a very exciting decade running Premier Inn during which we have built the UK's favourite hotel chain, doubled the size of the business to around c60,000 rooms and through the investment in the product and the passion of the team developed Premier Inn into a UK household brand. I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of all my colleagues at Premier Inn."
In addition to presenting the Business Achievmenet of the Year award, the evening will see new members inducted into the Hall of Fame, and presentations for the Young Manager of the Year and the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Ramon Pajares, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2000, commented: "The Hall of Fame rewards individuals for their achievements, excellence, leadership and aspiration. In recognition, once a year, the members are brought together for a dinner and further presentations to other worthy achievers.
This provides an excellent opportunity to see colleagues and meet other interesting people who can then be helpful to each other in business."
Tickets are now on sale for the event and cost £225 per person or £2,250 for a table of 10. For ticket enquiries, contact Helen Bush at helen.bush@travelweekly.co.uk, and for sponsorship enquiries please contact Mark Lewis at mark.lewis@thecaterer.com.
