Paul Shanahan to join the Vineyard as general manager

Paul Shanahan is joining the Vineyard hotel in Stockcross as general manager from the same role at Gidleigh Park.

He will join the five-red-AA-star, 49-bedroom Berkshire hotel following two years at the five-red-AA-star, 26-bedroom Gidleigh Park in Chagford, Devon.

The Caterer reported that the Vineyard's previous general manager Marwan Hemchaoui was leaving the business last month. Hemcahoui is understood to be taking up a new role as general manager of Ellenborough Park.

Managing director of the Vineyard Group Andrew McKenzie said: "I have known Paul for many years and am delighted to get someone with his impeccable CV to head up our fantastic team at the Vineyard. I am looking forward to him bringing new ideas and initiatives to an already successful business and am excited to see what enhancements can be made under Paul's direction."

Andrew Brownsword, who owns Gidleigh Park, added: "We want to thank Paul Shanahan, who joined us from Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons two years ago for his leadership at Gidleigh in his first general managers appointment as he moves on in his industry journey to the GM role at the Vineyard and we wish him and the team there all the very best."

The Caterer can also exclusively reveal Simon Franks will be taking the reins as general manager of Gidleigh Park in October. Read more here.
