Permira buys Hawkstone Park for £11m

Private equity firm Permira has bought the Hawkstone Park hotel and golf resort in Shropshire for an estimated £11m.

The property will be added to the group's Principal Hotels operation, which also acquired the St David's Hotel and Spa in Cardiff last month for £32.5m.

Permira bought Principal Hotels in September 2006 for a price tag in the region of £300m.

Its UK-based portfolio comprises six four-star hotels, including The Russell in London and The George in Edinburgh.

Permira said at the time, the acquisition would provide a "platform for consolidation" in the sector.
