Perth will get hotel to rival Scotland's finest
Plans have been unveiled for a new five-star hotel in Perth that aims to rival Edinburgh's Sheraton hotel, Glasgow's Hilton hotel and the famous Gleneagles hotel in Auchterarder.
Developer JWK Properties, which submitted proposals for the property to Perth and Kinross Council earlier this month, hopes to build a 320-bedroom business hotel on a four-acre site just outside the city.
A spokesman for JWK said the hotel would also feature three or four restaurants, a state-of-the-art health suite and a theatre with space for between 400 and 600 people that would host Las Vegas-style cabaret shows.
He added that all rooms in the hotel would be Broadband-enabled and that the hotel would provide a complimentary shuttle service to Perth airport.
JWK hoped to start work on the hotel, which will cost between £40m and £50m to develop, as soon as possible with the aim to open to the public in 2006.
It is believed that the company has already been approached by several hotel groups interested in operating the hotel.
