Premier Inn plans for Skegness hotel get council support

Plans to build an 80-bedroom Premier Inn hotel and restaurant on Skegness seafront moved one step closer this week.

The town's council has given its support for the scheme, submitted by KCS Developments and Premier Inn, on the grounds that it will help regenerate the resort and create jobs for locals.

The planning application is for an 80-bedroom, five-storey hotel with a ground floor restaurant and bar with 206 covers, and a drive-through restaurant with 76 covers. The hotel will be built at Pier Field, North Parade, on the town's seafront.

The scheme, which has yet to get planning permission, is expected to create 150 jobs during the 12-month build and over 70 permanent full time jobs once the hotel is opened in 2018.

Plans for the hotel are set to be considered by the council's planning committee after the public consultation, which closes on 5 July.
