Qatar Airways acquires second UK hotel in Edinburgh
Qatar Airways has bought the four-AA-star, 170-bedroom Novotel Edinburgh Park - its second hotel acquisition in the UK within two months.
The price paid for the hotel, which will continue to be operated by Accor under its Novotel brand, was not revealed.
In March, Qatar Airways acquired its first UK hotel, the four-AA-star, 350-bedroom Sheraton Skyline hotel at Heathrow Airport. In Qatar, the company owns the Oryx Rotana Hotel in Doha and runs the Hamad International Airport Hotel.
Located adjacent to Edinburgh Business Park, the Novotel features five meeting rooms, an indoor swimming pool, gym, Elements restaurant and bar.
Akbar Al Baker , chief executive of Qatar Airways, said: "The Novotel Edinburgh Park is an excellent addition to our travel portfolio, complementing our five-star hotel the Oryx Rotana in Doha and Sheraton Skyline Hotel Heathrow, making it easy for passengers who wish to spend some time in Edinburgh before travelling further afield in Scotland."
Qatar Airways is expected to make further hotel acquisitions in key destinations worldwide.
