QMH in deal with IHG to convert Holiday Inn hotels
Queens Moat Houses UK (QMH) is to convert 13 hotels to Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza, following a 20-year franchise deal with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
The 13 hotels, 11 of which will be operated under the Holiday Inn brand and two under Crowne Plaza, will be converted to their new badges by December.
Queens Moat Houses UK will manage the 13 hotels, which will undergo refurbishment involving upgrading bedrooms, installing air conditioning and in some cases overhauling the food and beverage operation.
A QMH spokeswoman said: "The amount of investment is not being disclosed, but it is significant amount and dependent on each hotel."
An IHG spokesman said: "This is an incredibly important endorsement for the Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza brands."
IHG has signed agreements on 18 hotels in the last month, including five former Hilton hotels owned by Chardon Hotels. These additions bring the total number of hotels operating under IHG brands in the UK to 227 (31,909 rooms).
