RAC closes hotel inspection business

Motoring organisation RAC is to close its hotel inspection and accreditation business at the end of the year, after operating for more than 100 years.

The move follows the recent purchase of the RAC by insurance giant Aviva.

Matthews added that all hotels and guest accommodation belonging to the RAC scheme were notified last week of the decision and that properties signed up for 2005 would receive the full range of benefits they signed up for.

The closure of the RAC hotel guide follows the revelation in April that The Which? Guide to Good Hotels would cease to publish annually.
