Ramada Encore to be developed in Gateshead
Wyndham Hotel Group is to manage its first Ramada Encore in the UK in Gateshead, following the the £17 development of the new property with Quay Hotels.
Due to open in 2012, the 200-bedroom Ramda Encore Newcastle/Gateshead will be located on Gateshead Quays close to the Millennium Bridge, which links the north and south banks of the Tyne within Newcastle city centre.
Ramada Encore is a tier of the Ramada brand which was launched in 2000 for business and leisure travellers looking for a good value, midscale hotel.
Central to the brand is the Hub which incorporates a restaurant, lounge and bar. The new hotel will also feature a gym and meeting facilities.
"Expanding our managed hotel portfolio is an integral part of Wyndham Hotel Group's overall growth strategy and this newest property will serve as an outstanding addition," said Michael Poynter, Wyndham Hotel Group senior vice president and managing director, Europe, Middle East and Europe.
"Newcastle is a key region for business and leisure and we very much look forward to being able to welcome guests in the spring of next year."
Wyndham Hotel Group is believed to be the world's largest hotel company based on number of properties with 7,210 hotels across 15 brands including Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Ramada and Days Inn.
