Rank Group non-exec director retires

Bingo hall and hotel company the Rank Group has announced the retirement of one of its non-executive directors.

Peter Jarvis, who has been on the board since 1995, handed in his notice, which took affect from 27 April.

His role will not be filled although the recent appointment of two non-executive directors - David Boden, who also heads the gaming division, and Brendan O'Connell will cover Jarvis's position.

Alun Cathcart, chairman of the Rank Group, said: "We are grateful for the valuable contribution Peter has made during his time with Rank and wish him well in his retirement."

Rank's Hard Rock division, which includes Hard Rock Cafés and a hotel in Chicago, saw profits for 2004 up by 20% year-on-year, due, in part, to the hotel's contribution.

The group also operates 156 bingo clubs and casinos in the UK.
