Record November occupancy for London hotels

London hotels recorded an occupancy rate of 85.9% last month, up 2.5% year on year and the highest level for any November on record, according to provisional figures from data company STR.

Average room rate and revenue per available room also rose, with an increase of 3% to £156.94 and 5.6% to £134.85 respectively.

Meanwhile, demand for rooms - up 4.6% - outstripped the 2% increase in supply.

STR analysts said that the strong performance of London hotels was partly driven by visitors to World Travel Market London at Excel from 5 to 7 November and the Nitto ATP finals at the O2 from 11 to 18 November.

STR will release its full November results later this month.
