Regional Turkish restaurant to open at London's Grosvenor House

A regional Turkish restaurant which originated in Dubai is set to open at Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel, on Park Lane, London, in the spring.

Rüya is set to launch on the site of a now empty bank building adjacent to the hotel's Corrigan Mayfair restaurant. Originally launched in Dubai in 2016 at the Grosvenor House hotel, which operates under Marriott's Luxury Collection brand, the concept was created by second generation restaurateur Umut Özkanca, who is originally from Istanbul.

The opening of the 100-seat London restaurant, which will have an additional 30 covers in the bar, will specialise in food from the Anatolian region of Turkey. It will be the first overseas expansion for the brand.

Chef-patron of the restaurant will be Colin Clague, who was previously executive chef of Zuma London and Dubai, opening head chef of Jason Atherton's Pollen in Singapore and executive chef of Caprice Holdings.

The new restaurant, which will have a direct entrance on to Upper Grosvenor Street, will join a plethora of food and beverage outlets at the five-AA-star, 496-bedroom Grosvenor House hotel. They include JW Steakhouse, the Park Room, Red bar and Bourbon bar as well as Corrigan Mayfair, operated by Richard Corrigan.

The hotel also offers one of London's busiest banqueting operations, with the Great Room and Ballroom able to cater for a combined number of 2,100 seated guests.

Özkanca and his father Rasim are focused on elevating Turkish food on a par with French, Italian and Japanese cookery. Together they operate Sele Istanbul Restaurant Group of 10 sites in Turkey.

Meaning dream in Turkish, Rüya will be designed by Conran and Partners, which also created the Dubai site.
