Rezidor to open Radisson Blu hotel at East Midlands Airport
The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced plans for a Radisson Blu Hotel at East Midlands Airport, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2012.
The new build property, which will feature 208 bedrooms and eight suites, will be located 800m from the main airport terminal. All accommodation will offer typical Radisson services, such as high speed internet access, and the hotel will feature a restaurant, bar/lounge, coffee shop and 750sq m of conference and event space.
Leisure facilities will comprise a fitness centre with a gym and indoor swimming pool.
Kurt Ritter, president and CEO of Rezidor, said: "This project is our fifth airport hotel in the UK and we continue to be Europe's leading airport hotel operator - with now 32 properties in operation and under development and a total of more than 8,000 rooms.
"At the same time I'm delighted to announce this hotel as our 250th Radisson Blu."
Bahram Sadr-Hashemi from hotel investment firm and franchisee of the new hotel, Azure Property Group, said: "The hotel will have a unique identity and offer its customers a new experience. Radisson Blu has proven to be an exceptionally strong brand in airport locations and we remain confident that it will be no exception here."
The hotel design will incorporate carbon-cutting initiatives to reduce the building's CO2 emissions while generating cost savings.
