Richard Reynolds secures future of Welsh Food Centre
Entrepreneur Richard Reynolds has secured the future of the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre after the site - a testament to the nation's culinary culture - was deemed to be operating unsustainably.
In October former owner Michael McLaren reached out to advisory firm Smith Cooper, after significant investment could not help to balance the books due to difficult trading conditions. A week later it was decided the business would wind down if a buyer could not be found.
However Richard Reynolds, managing director of the tearoom brand Love To Eat which operates in five locations, offered to take over the site. The Welsh food centre comprises a café, a cookery school, a farm shop and B&B accommodation near Conwy, North Wales.
Reynolds said: "I am delighted to have bought the business and assets of Bodnant Welsh Food, having already agreed Heads of Terms for my lease of the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre site, and I will be working hard to ensure its future success.
"The centre is situated in spectacular surroundings and has so much potential, boasting a fantastic array of award-winning products and services which I hope to honour and enhance further.
