Ritz staff invited to Baroness Thatcher's funeral

Ten staff at the Ritz London have been invited to Baroness Thatcher's funeral at St Paul's Cathedral, next week.

It is believed the staff received the invitations as a thank for the care they showed the former Prime Minister in her final months, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Baroness Thatcher arrived at the hotel at the beginning of the year to convalesce following an operation to remove a growth from her bladder. The Barclay brothers, who own the hotel, are also the proprietors of the Daily Telegraph.

Aidan Barclay, chairman of the Telegraph Media Group, said: "We were delighted to have the opportunity to play a small part in looking after this remarkable lady in the last few months of her life."

The Ritz was a favourite venue of Baroness Thatcher. It was where she celebrated many family occasions, including her golden wedding anniversary to Denis Thatcher in 2001.
