Roomzz to invest £3m into expansion of aparthotel in Newcastle
The 14-suite Roomzzz aparthotel in Newcastle is to expand to 76 suites, following a £3m investment.
Increased customer demand for accommodation which combines hotel services with the facilities of an apartment has encouraged the expansion of the business, located in Friar House, a Georgian property within the heritage district of Clavering Place.
Mark Walton, head of Roomzzz, said that the Newcastle aparthotel, which opened in 2012 following an initial £5m development, has given Clavering Place a new lease of life and attracted a new footfall into the city. "It is a beautiful area and we are proud to be a successful influence in the city's regeneration.
"Our further investment into Newcastle illustrates our commitment to provide quality across the board for both the city and our guests. Phase two will allow us to attract more visitors and to meet with demand that our current customers are putting on us to provide more high quality affordable accommodation in the city."
Friar House is a Grade-II-listed building which once belonged to Sir Robert Hopper Williamson, a recorder of Newcastle and chancellor of Durham.
