Rumours continue over Jury's Doyle takeover

An approach to buy Ireland's largest hotel group Jury's Doyle has been made, it was confirmed today.

Although the group is currently valued at €882m (£602.5m), shares are rising steadily amid the rumours of a possible takeover.

Any offer for the 33-strong hotel group, which has properties in Ireland, Britain and the US, could now reach as much as €1b (£680m).

A spokesman for Jury's Doyle confirmed there had been no firm offer made as yet, but admitted: "There has been an approach which may or may not lead to a bid."

Any bid would need the support of key shareholders, four of which own nearly 30% of the equity.
