Salcombe Harbour hotel to undergo £4m refurbishment
Salcombe Harbour hotel has announced plans for a £4m renovation programme which will see a total revamp of the property and the addition of a new luxury spa.
The refurbishment, which is set to begin this October with completion due in summer 2012, will also see a new function room added to the property as well as 50 redecorated bedrooms, a full fit-out of the restaurant and new interiors throughout.
The move is part of managing director Mark Godfrey's goal of bringing the group's five-strong portfolio in Devon, Dorset and Cornwall up to four-star standard across the board.
He said: "We are delighted that planning permission has come through and we can get to work. This is an exciting time for us, as we continue to build our collection of waterside hotels, bringing our entire current portfolio up to four-star standard. With big plans for on-going growth, we are always on the lookout for unique and stunning waterside hotels to add to our Harbour Hotels Collection."
Formerly the Marine hotel, the property was bought by the Harbour Hotels Collection in January 2010. The portfolio includes hotels in Sidmouth, Salcombe, St Ives and two in Christchurch.
