Sean Dunne makes bid for Jury's Berkeley Court

Irish property developer Sean Dunne has made a bid for Jurys Doyle's Berkeley Court hotel in Dublin.

The hotel is adjacent to the main Ballsbridge site and has attracted bids from seven parties in total. It is valued at around €100m (£68m) by market experts.

Dunne recently completed an Irish record-breaking €260m (£176m) deal for 4.85 acres of the site, which included the Jurys Ballsbridge and Towers hotels.

It is believed Dunne is keen to buy as much of the surrounding areas as possible to level and build a multi-use development to maximise the value of the land the hotels are on.

Other developers thought to be in the race for the Berkeley include Paddy Kelly and Frank Gormley of Howard Holdings and Ray Grehan of Glenkerrin Homes.

However, Irish investment group Quinlan Private ended speculation that it would make a bid by issuing a statement to the Irish Stock Exchange yesterday.
