Sean Wheeler leaves Malmaison for Dorchester Collection
Sean Wheeler is leaving Malmaison & Hotel du Vin, where he has been group director of people development since 2005, to become area director of human resources at the Dorchester Collection.
Wheeler will be expected to create a central development resource and talent pipeline, both to retain and attract the best people in the industry.
"The Dorchester Collection will bring new challenges and new opportunities for me. Working in five-star properties has always been a goal of mine, as has the potential to work internationally," said Wheeler.
General manager and regional director UK for the Dorchester Collection, Roland Fasel, said that Wheeler's drive, passion and innovative approach to people development made him the clear choice for the position.
Robert Cook, chief executive of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, said the loss of Wheeler would make a huge dent in the company.
He added: "He has been my right-hand man and instrumental in bringing together the two brands and taking them forward. The opportunity ahead of him is phenomenal and one he is taking on with my personal blessing."
Wheeler's replacement at Malmaison & Hotel du Vin will be Michael Williams from Firmdale Hotels.
