Shaker Group expands into hotel sector with Worcestershire acquisition

The Shaker Group has acquired a third venue, the Old Rectory House in Redditch, Worcestershire, off an asking price of £1.45m.

The Group is investing £500,000 into the historic 10-bedroom hotel. It intends to create a 70-cover Orangery restaurant, 60-cover terrace and gardens, 30-cover cocktail lounge, 14-cover private dining area and 40-cover conference facilities.

The food and beverage offering will specialise in seasonal, shareable modern European cuisine and Himalayan salt dry-aged steaks, while the drinks offering will include signature cocktails and sharing drinks created by the Shaker Consultancy team.

Shaker Group also owns and operates hospitality consultancy company Shaker BarSchool and Consultancy, cocktail bar Shaker & Company in London Euston, and Birmingham restaurant Gas Street Social. It acquired the Worcestershire property through agent Charles Jones of Christie & Co Birmingham

Adam Freeth, managing director of the Shaker Group, said: "We are delighted to have acquired grade II listed Old Rectory House which has stood on the Redditch site for several hundreds of years. Old Rectory House will sit well within our eclectic mix of hospitality businesses. We look forward to restoring the former glory and family spirit that has characterised this historic venue."
