Simon Hirst leaves Campbell Gray for the Seychelles
The former right-hand man of hotelier Gordon Campbell Gray has been appointed general manager of Raffles Praslin Seychelles.
Simon Hirst has worked with Campbell Gray since 1997, when he was appointed opening general manager of One Aldwych, London. In 2008 he became operations director of Campbell Gray Hotels, when he oversaw the development of two hotels overseas - the Carlisle Bay in Antigua and Le Gray in Beirut.
Hirst will join Raffles Praslin Seychelles, which opened in February 2011 and has 86 villas on the northern tip of Praslin Island, on 27 February.
John Johnston, president of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, which has eight hotels worldwide, said he was delighted Hirst would be joining the company. "I know that Raffles Praslin Seychelles will benefit enormously from Simon's international experience, to confirm its position as one of the leading luxury hotels in the Indian Ocean."
Hirst began his career with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and held management positions with the group's hotels in Hong Kong and San Franciso. He has also worked for Four Season Hotels & Resorts as resident manager in London and general manager in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
