Sky introduces new in-room HD packages

Sky believes that more hotels can now offer an enhanced in room experience with the introduction of a new payment package.

Through a partnership with Samsung it has developed a payment plan that includes no up-front set up costs, interest-free payments and a three-year warranty.
Sky said that the deal would make it more affordable for hotels to upgrade their TVs to the latest HD models.

The packages start at £13.50 per room a month, with installation costs spread over three years. Four television packages are available, with access to more than 300 channels.

David Rey, managing director, Sky Business, said: "Sky In-Room can help hotels to boost room and beverage sales, attract positive reviews and drive improved customer loyalty.

"Through our new Sky In-Room Samsung HD TV bundle package, we are also helping hotels to offer guests award-winning TV entertainment on cutting-edge HD TVs."

Graham Long, vice-president of corporate sales sales IT solutions UK & Ireland, Samsung Electronics added: "We recently spoke to a number of IT decision makers in the hotel industry and an overwhelming majority (82%) believed that investment in new technology is the key to enhancing the customer experience, increasing occupancy, and driving revpar. Three quarters also believed that investment in technology is being driven by higher expectations from guests expecting access to the latest and greatest technology during their stay. This has influenced our unique partnership with Sky. With this package, hotels of any size are able to offer guests Sky's award winning entertainment in the best possible picture quality on Samsung HD TV screens."
