Slaley Hall named Hotel of the Year in De Vere Group's Excees Awards

The four-star, 142-bedroom Slaley Hall hotel in Hexham, Northumberland, has been named Hotel of the Year in the De Vere Group's inaugural hotel awards of excellence.

Known as The Excees, a total of 28 awards were presented at a presentation ceremony, held at the Grand Hotel Brighton, attended by 350 staff from the company's two hotel brands, De Vere Hotels and Village Urban Resorts.

The full list of winners include:

Chef of the Year: Tom Hughes, head chef, Cheadle Village

Excellence in Food and Beverage Service: Tanja Sparta, meetings and events operations and Starbucks team member, Blackpool Village

Maintenance Manager of the Year: Tony Ellams, maintenance manager, Carden Park, Chester

VIP award: Peter McMahon, head butler, Oulton Hall , Leeds

Number cruncher: Susan Stanley, financial controller, Wirral and Chester St David's Village

Excellence in Service: Tulin Penlivan, Chop and Ale House team member, Cheadle Village

Housekeeper of the Year: Nelio Jardim, head housekeeper, Swindon Village

Unsung Hero: Sean Winters, head green keeper, Blackpool

Rising Star: - Peter Thompson, deputy general manager, Blackpool

Excellence: Nalin Daud, deputy general manager, Oulton Hall, Leeds

Sales Person of the Year: Emma Julian, sales manager, South Leeds Village

Leisure Manager of the Year: Matt Smith, leisure club manager, Bury Village

Up and Coming Chef: Harri Alun Williams, Carden Park, Chester

Restaurant Manager of the Year: Peter Dinsdale, Chop and Ale House manager, Cheadle Village

Deal of the Year: Sue Bamber, sales manager, Blackpool Village

Leisure/Golf Sales Person of the Year: Steven Chick, De Vere club memberships, Dunston Hall, Norwich

Regional Person of the Year: - Phil Roberts, regional director - south (winner of regional person) and Lindsay Southward, people development - head of learning and development (winner of central office support person)

Starbuck Manager of the Year: Grace Taylor, Starbuck manager, Maidstone Village

Reception Manager of the Year: Maria Dean, reception manager, Swindon Village

Velocity Sales Person: Carly Easter, membership sales advisor, Blackpool Village

Meetings & Events Sales Manager of the Year: Catherine Lawson, conference office manager, Mottram Hall, Cheshire

Pub Manager of the Year: Andy Atkinson , pub manager, North Leeds Village

Spa Person of the Year: Jules Davenport, Viva Urban spa manager, Blackpool and Bury Village

Manager of the Year: - Tom Morgan , maintenance manager, Newcastle Village

Team of the Year: Meetings & Events, Grand Brighton

General manager of the Year: - James Stewart, managing director, Mottram Hall, Cheshire

Hotel of the Year: Slaley Hall Hotel, Hexham

CEO Award: Wendy Barlow, revenue director
