Sleeperz Hotels launches sister brand Cityroomz in Edinburgh

Budget group Sleeperz Hotels is to launch a rooms-only focused sister brand with the opening of a property in Edinburgh.

The 72-bedroom Cityroomz hotel will open on Monday on the site of a former Travelodge property in Shandwick Place, between Waverley and Haymarket rail stations.

It will create 10 new jobs, as well as six existing roles among former Travelodge employees.

Rates will start at £49 per night and include free WiFi. A continental breakfast will be offered for £4.95.

Sleeperz, which has two hotels in Cardiff and Newcastle with all-day dining facilities, said the launch of the new brand marks the latest phase of the company's aggressive expansion plans, funded by Andre Hoffmann, Connection Capital and Costain.

David Myers, chief executive of Sleeperz Hotels, said: "The launch of a new rooms-based sister brand is a bold and exciting move for a young business. The fact that it is one of the best locations in Edinburgh, at the end of Princes Street, is a tremendous opportunity."

The company is currently close to confirming details of a 121-bedroom Sleeperz hotel in central Glasgow, as well as a new hotel in London.
