Spider-Man cleans windows at Shanghai hotel

A five-star hotel in China has become a tourist attraction after it dressed its window cleaners in Spider-Man costumes to make them less annoying to guests.

Bosses at the Shanghai Sheraton Hotel were worried that the week-long cleaning would annoy guests and came up with the idea of dressing up the cleaners instead to make the job more entertaining for visitors.

A hotel spokesman said: "Nobody wants to see a person suddenly appear outside their window, so we thought of dressing them as Spider-Man, which is fun and harmless."

But since the cleaners appeared guests have been queuing up to have their pictures taken with the comic book heroes and they have become an added attraction for visitors.

The spokesman said: "We did not expect them to be this popular."
