St James's Hotel Group to sell Arnos Manor in Bristol

The 73-bedroom Arnos Manor hotel in Bristol has gone on the market for £3.5m.

St James's Hotel Group, a subsidiary of the Jersey-based real estate company Somerston Group, acquired the hotel as part of the 14-strong Forestdale portfolio in March 2014. Forestdale was a subsidiary of the Akkeron hotel group, which went into administration in early 2014.

Dating back to 1760, when the original part of the hotel was built as the private home of merchant William Reeve, the hotel is located on the A4 Bath Road. It features original Georgian gothic detailing and has a glass-roofed courtyard restaurant, lounge, chapel and four conference suites.

Property agent Christie + Co is handling the sale. Jonathan Hill, director of the company's Bristol office, said: "Arnos Manor hotel would make an excellent investment for an experienced operator looking to invest in the South West. The site could also offer further development opportunities subject to planning."

St James's Hotel Group today comprises 10 regional properties. At the time of the acquisition of Forestdale, the company's managing director Shaun Robinson said the hotels had suffered from underinvestment and St James's intended to undertake "significant investment" in the properties.
