Starboard Hotels acquires first Scottish hotel
Starboard Hotels has completed its acquisition of its first Scottish hotel, the Holiday Inn Express Greenock, near Glasgow, Scotland.
The 71-bedroom hotel is the second purchase in as many months for the hotel company, which also acquired the 58-bedroom Best Western Carlton in Blackpool last month, and marks part of the group's plans to expand further.
Paul Callingham, managing director of Starboard Hotels, commented on the new property, saying that the Greenock hotel was in a popular location and had significant growth potential.
He added: "We're moving into a very exciting period with new opportunities taking us all over the UK [and] we are delighted to be expanding the Starboard portfolio. Our appetite for growth remains strong in other major UK cities too."
The purchase also coincides with a rebrand and change in logo for the company.
A franchisee of the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) and the Wyndham Hotel Group, Starboard already owns and operates various hotels and hostel franchises across the UK, including the Holiday Inn Express Burnley, the Days Inn Wetherby, and the Edinburgh-based Smart City Hostels.
