Stay Original acquires Grosvenor Arms in Shaftesbury

Boutique hotel and pub brand Stay Original Co has added a fifth site to its portfolio, the 16-bedroom Grosvenor Arms in Shaftesbury, Dorset.

Once known as the Red Lion, the property was bought by the Grosvenor family in 1820, when it was renamed the Grosvenor Arms.

More recently it has been owned by Edala Investments and has been operated by Bespoke Hotels, who are now no longer involved. The hotel reopened in 2013 following a major refurbishment.

It also owns the King's Arms in Dorchester, which will reopen in 2017 following an extensive refurbishment.

Rob Greacen, managing director of Stay Original co, described the Grosvenor Arms as "an exciting addition" to the company's expanding portfolio.

"We're going to settle in, treat customers to a very special Christmas and then in the New Year we'll start to make some improvements to the property. At Stay Original we pride ourselves on our food and first-rate service and customers in Shaftesbury can look forward to enjoying the very best of both of these immediately."
