Stephen Boxall promoted to managing director at the Ritz
Stephen Boxall, general manager of the Ritz, has been appointed managing director of the iconic five-star London hotel, Caterersearch can reveal.
Boxall, who has 30 years experience in the hospitality industry, joined the Ritz in 1996 as restaurant manager, before being promoted to hotel manager in 2001. Two years later he took up the general manager (GM) position at the 137-room property.
In his new capacity as a board member and company director, Boxall will be tasked with "structuring the hotel ready for future expansion". He will retain GM responsibilities.
"The past six years as general manager have been spent strengthening operations and building a strong foundation of key staff" Boxall said.
"It will still be business as usual at the Ritz but my position as managing director will give me, and my team, a broader perspective and will allow me to concentrate on plans for our new rooms extension, and for 2012 (Olympics)."
Before Boxall joined the Ritz, he served two years at the Berkeley hotel in London, as restaurant manager.
