Swallow Hotels buys Riverside in Mildenhall

The three-AA-star Riverside Hotel in Mildenhall, Suffolk, has been sold to Swallow Hotels for an undisclosed price thought to be in excess of £1.8m.

Swallow Hotels, part of London & Edinburgh Inns, bought the 23-bedroom property from private operator Brian Keane through the Ipswich office of Christie & Co.

Keane, who has moved on to explore other avenues, bought the property in 1999. According to Tim Gooding of Christie & Co, there are no definite plans for the development of the property, which already fits in well with the brand.

Swallows Hotels now operate more than 110 properties - it is Scotland's biggest hotelier and the fifth largest in the UK.
