The Devon hotel completes £1.5m extension

Brend Hotels has invested £1.5m to add 20 new executive rooms to the-three-AA-star Devon hotel in Exeter.

The new build has taken almost a year to complete and included the installation of a fitness suite and an extension of the hotel car park with a charging station for electric cars. Two new bridal suites have also been introduced as the now 60-bedroom hotel continues to be a popular wedding venue.

The hotel, which opened in 1955, said it had executed the improvements "carefully".

John Brend, managing director of the Brend Hotel Group, said: "We wanted to combine the character and charm of the old with the new to create the complete offering; modern rooms fit for purpose in the 21st century, but retaining the sophisticated drinking and dining atmosphere."

Brend Hotels is a family-run company comprising nine hotels in Devon and two in Cornwall.
