The Goring appoints Stuart Geddes as hotel manager
The Goring hotel in London has appointed Stuart Geddes as hotel manager (pictured), following the departure of Graham Copeman to the St James's hotel and club in nearby Mayfair.
Geddes arrived at the five-red-AA-star, 69-bedroom Goring in 2006 as restaurant manager, after several years working in the restaurant at the Ritz hotel.
David Morgan-Hewitt, managing director at the Goring, said that Geddes had made a huge impact on the service levels in hotel's dining room, with business remaining strong throughout the economic downturn.
"Following a couple of years as food and beverage manager, I am delighted that Stuart agreed to take on this new role" explained Morgan-Hewitt. "He is so focused on service and the guest experience and I know those skills will help take us to the next level.
"He already has a Hotel Catey under his belt for the restaurant team and I have no doubt he will pick up another one at some time in the future."
Meanwhile, Copeman, who left the Goring as general manager, has arrived to head up the five-red-AA-star, 60-bedroom St James's hotel and club, as managing director.
Copeman's 18 year hotel career in London includes stints as front office manager at the Lanesborough; house manager, One Aldwych; and house manager, Claridge's. At the Goring, he looked after the day-to-day management of the hotel, as well as project managing each phase of the property's refurbishment.
Regarding St James's, Copeman said: "It is a terrific property, perfect location, wonderful design and character."
