The Goring's David Morgan-Hewitt wins global GM award

David Morgan-Hewitt, managing director of London's Goring hotel, has been named Top General Manager of the Year Worldwide by a US-based publication.

He was presented with the award at the 2015 Luxury Travel Advisor's Awards of Excellence, held at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida

The accolade is presented to the winner of the highest number of votes from readers of Luxury Travel Advisor from a list of nominees drawn up by leading travel operators.

Morgan-Hewitt, who has worked at the Goring since 1990, said it was an honour to win the award in what has been a special year for the five-AA-red-star, 69-bedroom hotel, which has seen the refurbishment of its lobby.

Jeremy Goring, chief executive of the Goring and great-grandson of the founder of the 105-year-old hotel, added: "David has lived and breathed the Goring for over 20 years. He is that rare combination - a real host, but also a smart operator. One thing is for sure - there's only one David!"

A total of 26 accolades were made during the presentation ceremony including awards for the Best Luxury Hotel in London to the Corinthia hotel and Top Luxury Hotel Renovation/Restoration to Ashford Castle, Red Carnation Hotel's newly opened property in Ireland.
