The Macdonald Randolph Hotel achieves five-star status

Macdonald's Randolph Hotel has become the only AA-rated, five-star hotel in Oxford's city centre.

The award recognises both the hotel's high service standards and the intensive investment in the property which includes last year's addition of a luxury spa.

Peter Birnie, AA's chief hotel inspector said: "Inspections over the past few years have witnessed the Macdonald Randolph Hotel develop excellent all round standards of service and investment. The award of five-stars in any hotel signifies a landmark in its development."

The rating follows a two-year £160m investment programme by the group to refurbish existing portfolio and create new facilities.
